Test equipment for window & door profiles

Corner weld strength, dimensional accuracy, heat and impact resistance, colour — the QC checks PVC profile extruders run every shift.

Overview

Plastic Window & Door Profiles — Overview

Which tests are used for PVC window profiles? The key production test is welded corner strength to TS EN 514: a welded frame corner is loaded until failure to prove the weld holds. Alongside it, extruders check profile dimensions against the CAD drawing, heat resistance with Vicat softening temperature (ISO 306), impact resistance with the Charpy method (ISO 179), and colour and gloss consistency for visible faces.

Alarge's in-line vision measurement system checks profile cross-sections on the extrusion line itself, so dimensional drift is caught before scrap piles up.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the welded corner test for PVC windows?

A test to TS EN 514 in which a welded PVC-U profile corner is loaded in compression or tension until it breaks; the failure load proves the weld quality. The Alarge AL-WCS machine performs it with automatic load recording.

How can profile dimensions be checked during extrusion?

With a camera-based vision measurement system that compares the profile cross-section to the CAD drawing in-line, instead of waiting for manual caliper checks after cutting.

Which thermal and impact tests apply to PVC profiles?

Vicat softening temperature (ISO 306, ASTM D1525) shows heat resistance, and Charpy impact (ISO 179) on notched specimens shows toughness — a notching machine prepares the specimens.
